Med 1 form returns. Can I include past years?

Both myself and my wife in 2018 returned to paying tax again due to the receipt of pension income. We had been paying nil tax before this.

When completing my tax return for 2018 I believe that I can also claim for routine medical expenses.

Is it possible that I can also include my medical expenses/receipts from the past number of years in my 2018 return. I understand that you can go back 4 years?

Is this correct?

Thanks.

You can only claim tax relief in any year that you paid tax. So you could not claim for previous years medical expenses unless you paid tax in that year. You can go back 4 years to make a claim but only can claim tax relief if you paid tax.

Also if you did pay tax in one of the last four years you must claim for expenses for that year on a separate form for each year.
