As per title will be replacing a thirty year old MCB fuse board which has no cover and labels that have fallen off over the years, it's in an outside building.
Anyone have any idea of the cost of this, have registered electrician booked for January

You really need to scope this with him first.

The new regs mean that the sparks is responsible for all the elec works on the site so you could find him requiring a full rewire of the main house as he will be isolating from the main board in the house.
Is the earth in the main house neutralised?

Absolutely no idea, have to wait and see when he sees it. The original fuse board was in an old dwelling. One of the rcd fuses was labelled new house when it was built if that makes sense..

A direct replacement if the sparks supplies the new board would be in the range of €400-€500.
If he/she is doing it as a nixer and can certify the work it might be in or around €300 range.
If any other work apart from replacement is needed expect too pay more.
Direct replacement would be 2-4 hours work

Thanks for that, will be replacing board, asked around €450 would be about right amount from what I gather..

Would the electrician not charge maybe 100 euro extra as he has to test the mcb
and provide a certificate to the Esb to get it connected to the network?
