Maternity Leave - Medical Expenses Claim

My wife put in a tax refund claim for medical expenses for 2006, 2007. 2008 and 2009. She received a refund for 2006, 2008 and 2009 but none for 2007. The reason for this is because she was on maternity leave for 6 months of 2007. She received a P21 statement for 2007. We both think she must have paid some tax in 2007 or if not can we cancel the claim and re send it under my name/pps number. Any thoughts?

were you married during 2007?
If you were married for that year, what way did you ask to be assessed - are you jointly assessed, or did you opt for either separate assessment or separate treatment

Did your wife pay any tax in that year - maybe check her P60 for 2007.
Did you pay any tax during 2007?
