Maternity Benefits and Taxation

Hi folks,
hoping I can get some help on this. My wife is currently on maternity leave from her job. She is on leave for 10 months. In the first 3 months, her employer will pay her part of her normal wage, with the rest comprising of maternity benefit. The next 3 months she will get just the maternity benefit. For the last 16 weeks she will not get any payment.

As a married couple we are jointly taxed. My question is this - can I avail of any of her her tax credits at any point during her maternity leave? The tax credits are still allocated based on our normal working arrangements.

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Yes. you should be able to allocate them on revenue.ie's website at any time.
