Hi, my husband and I are both working full time, husband earn 52,000 & I earn 48,000. Kids are in school/creche full time, mortgage and usual other outgoings etc. Is it better for us to be assessed jointly or separately bearing in mind the cuts that are likely to come in this next budget?

Any suggestions?

No difference tax-wise because you are both in the same tax bracket (ie 41%)

I would still recommend being assessed jointly though as circumstances can change in the future (eg redundancy, pregnancy etc) and there is no harm in being prepared
