Hi all, I did a search but am still somewhat confused about the tax situation for a married couple. Here is the situation: he makes 44k basic a year, she makes 31k basic. As far as I can tell there is no real difference between being assesses as single or married people with these figures since she could only transfer a grand of the SCROP to him. Am I missing something here? I would appreciate your help!
Normally only spouses where one is on 20% and the other is on 42% gain from switching to joint/aggregated married taxation. However even two spouses on 42% should not lose out by doing so.
