Margin trading a tax deductible expense?

Lets say you buy stocks worth 100k that produce a dividend of circa 5k on margin where your yearly margin interest is 2k. Can you offset the margin interest to make your net gain to 3k and then pay tax on 3k vs 5k?

i can see in America, it can be possible but i cant find anything from a government site that talks about this.
 
If by buying on margin, you mean buying shares using borrowed money, then the answer is no.

How you finance the purchase of shares that yield you a dividend has no bearing on the income tax treatment of the dividends, in Ireland.
