Regarding detached houses in Malahide they seem to offer much better value than properties in D4/D6.
There is obviously a slightly greater supply of decent quality 4/5 bed houses in Malahide which would be a factor but there is a greater difference in price than would account for this.
Both areas are prosperous, have good schools, public transport and a good variety of local amenities.
Malahide would be 10km more from the city center which is also a factor but is it one that would justify the difference in price between similar properties?
Basically I am looking for opinions from people who have no real attachment to either side of the Liffey...
Why would you be willing to pay an approx 50% premium for a similar house to live in D4/D6 instead of Malahide?
