I was made redundant last thursday, and the day before i left that accountant advised me that my last pay would be in my account today and i should get my P45 in the post at some point this week too.
Well surprise surprise i have checked my account and no money, and i still haven't had my P45 through the post.
Any suggestions? I don't want to go down to the office because i know what the boss is like and he'll just tell me to get out.
First things first, Gem, did you register for Jobseeker's Benefit? SW will ask you for your P45 and your employer has a legal obligation to give it to you. SW will write to him regarding the reason that employment finished adn this official letter might shift him. If you don't get it in the next few days, then you have an excuse to ring them and say that SW won't pay you without it.
I start a new job on monday so i've taken a week off to visit family, i've already filled out inland revenue forms for my new job so the P45 isn't a problem really.
I've just spoken to the accountant at the old office and he's told me that the company have gone into receivership and i won't be getting paid for at least another 2 weeks!
Can they do this? i thought legally the were suppose to pay me on the last day i was working for them...
Were you there longer than 2yrs? If so you would have been legally entitled to a redundancy payment and should have been issued with a RP50. Details of this and how to deal with related issues here:
