Hi all,

I have a decent amount of ETFs which are subject to capital gains. I plan on returning to ireland from australia. I am no longer ordinarily resident in ireland, having left >3 years ago, and don't wish to become ordinarily resident there again.

My plan is to return to ireland briefly and then take off to a european country that has low taxation on ETFs - does anyone know any countries that are low tax and will accept me as a tax resident quite promptly for sale of ETFs?

I've heard good things about portugal.

Note, I'm not looking to set up a business or anything, just simply keen to get rid of ETFs. And then probably move back to ireland

Some countries, including Ireland can levy CGT-type taxes on assets disposed of after you leave the country.

Does Australia?
