For the past 2 years i have been working on a temporary full time contract with the HSE. I also have a further years contract as things stand. I have been requested by the manager to swap positions with a fellow staff member. The new job is basically a 9-5 position Mon-Fri. Previous job involved weekend and night shift hours. Due to loss in premium pay i will now be down approx 200 - 300 euro per week. My contract does state that i can be posted where ever needs be.
Have i got any rights in relation to substantial loss of earnings?
Why have you been asked to swap positions? This suggests that both positions continue to exist but now A will be doing B's job and B will be doing A's less lucrative job?

Have you both tried to speak to your manager to let him/her know neither of you want to do the other role? It is a major change in the terms and conditions of your employment so you should have to agree to the change, it shouldn't just be imposed on you. Before getting defensive about things hough it would be best to discuss the issue, especially as both A and B want to stay where they are.
Hi, your terms and conditions of employment cannot be changed without your permission. Also I do not think that you could be redeployed on the basis of your gender just because one post is more suited to a male employee.
I'm assuming that your either a nurse or health care assistant. It would be advisable to contact your union rep re: further clarification.
