looking for site manager to run a house build

hi there , I'm looking for help in finding a site manager to run a house build project.I've got quotes back from various builders and I'm realising that they are hiding huge costs in the demolishion ,site/ground works of the site.

I am now thinking of breaking up the jobs so that we get someone in to do the foundations and then get a site manager to manage the build of the house ( up to the roof windows in place).I don't think we could do a self build as it is a difficult site but we're now thinking that we could get a guy to run the job for a price and get him to handle all the different trades and the over lapping. I've got names before on this site when I was looking for an engineer and was very happy with the names I received.

I am now looking for an unemployed architect, fore manager someone good at their job that might be interested in this type of work.I am in south cork area.
 
i'm sure an unemployed architect or Quantity surveyor would be very good in this instance. i'd actually rather a QS given the training would hopefully lead to better management of costs.
 
I'm looking for names of someone that would turn up on the site and project manage the job for us. Not sure if QS would be the man for the job as he could only tell me how much it could cost and maybe where to get it.I need a site guy to say " you need x amount of blocks ,have then here on tuesday and start ordering the next thing I will need.I need the names of people that have ran domestic jobs, have loads of contacts and will build the house for me using direct labour

THE role of a quantity surveyor is to determine the quantity of each product required to complete a build, then determine the cost of this and finally where best to source it, a bill of quantities properly prepared by a QS would have your job broken down into minute detail thereby aiding you avoid hidden costs applied by sneaky builders. Most QS's
from my experience would also combine project management.
If you want to manage your cost avoid an architect, i can only base this on my experience but cost efficiency comes far down the list of priorities for architects

for the record, i'm not a QS and the only QS i've ever know was the guy who did our job.
 
got the architect drawings, been down the road of very through engineers drawings and now its on to look for site manager.Both of us are way from the site and will need someone to run the block ,steel, roof, levels, lanscaping .have a QS's bill of quantilies but like I said need someone now to run the jobs
 
designchick, you could post the project on onlinetradesmen.com under project manager and you would get a referral to a project manager in your area.
