Hello, can someone plesae give me some information. I am an expecting mother and I am due a baby in March. I am not working at the moment, but I have been offered work a few months after the baby is born. It will be working 20 hours a week and it would be Monday to a Friday (5 days a week) am I able to do this? Some people have different views on this and say I am not aloud work the 20 hours over a 5 day week but has to be over a 4 our 3 day week. I am very confused about this and would be grateful is somebody could give me some information on this. Thanks!

Re: Loan Parents and want to work 20 hour a week

You can work as many days or hours as you choose.
However your lone parent payment will be reduced if you earn over 146.50 p.w.

If you have rent allowance it may also be affected

You can work. Anything over €146 p/wk (I think, may also change in the budget) will be assessed against loan parents payment. If you work 20 hours you can also claim FIS. Working 20 hrs over 5 days means you cannot claim job seekers. Think people are confusing JSB with lone parents allowance.

No confusion at all between lone parents payment and JB.

There is no question of JB here as there is no loss of income

Not you Black Sheep! In her OP she stated that people had told her she couldn't work over 5 days, that is the situation with JSA/B, not Lone parents.
