I am thinking of going back to college to do a degree as a mature student, my only worry is that I will have to leave work...I have two daughters and a mortgage and am single...I dont really understand what a maintanance grant is... just wondering if anybody knows what I would be entitled to if i was to go back.
I would like to do a degree in nutrition and as far as i can see I cant do it part time that would be the ideal situation as I am currently studying part time and it is working out quiet well....
I'm a full time student and I get a maintenance grant. I receive 3 payments throughout the college year. You should contact Fingal county council and ask them what exactly would you be entitled to, they are very helpful, would you like the number?
thanks for the responses guys....a 3 time a year payment doesnt really sound like it would help me support the kids and pay the mortgage unfortunatly! maybe i am just destined not to ever get my degree lol
manto, funnily enough i currently study at NTC...there a great college but I think i need the degree before i go for the masters
Ill keep searching the net for part time courses and contact the county council
With Open University you can study and pay by module - you earn credits as you go along and work to a degree. Maybe give them an email and see if there any options open to you and the cost associated?
If it wasnt too costly maybe it would be ideal to study at home - shift the kids off to bed and use the evening time to study?
