lone parent and relationship

First time using this, so hope it comes out ok!
would anyone out there know this? or where i can find out?????????
Im a lone parent in private rented accom., Is my partner able to stay over any nites, without affecting my lone parents and rent allowance???????? We have one child together. tanxs

He's allowed to stay as a guest for 3 nights a week, without it effecting you. Would be a good idea to let social welfare know about this. If they find out from another source and dont get the correct information then it could cause trouble for you.

Is he working at the moment? And is he paying you maintenance? Even if he isn't working he would need to be giving you something even if it is only 10/20 euro a week.

Remember he is a guest, the first proof they get that he is more than that you will lose your benefits, and it's tough to get them back. I know he is your partner and your childs father but for staying over you cant think of him that way. i.e he wouldn't have a huge amount of personal items there, he does have another address, no bills are registered to your address ect ect

So if you are in a relationship with the father of your child, and he is as you write "your partner", then why don't you just live with him fulltime? What am I missing here? Maybe the fact that you wouldn't get your rent paid for you by the state?

Ther is no rule that 'allows' a 'partner' to stay over 3 nights a week. The definition for SW purposes is 'cohabitation'; there has been much discussion here on what defines co-habitation. Sw take a lot of factors, not just one, when deciding whether a person is co-habiting with another or not. This throws some light on how complex a decision if can be. You know, in your heart and soul, what category you fall into- cohabitation or one-parent family!
