I am fed up paying €6 for small bags of wood in the local petrol station. Just wondering if larger amounts can be purchased anywhere? Have tried the net but no luck.

Coillte sell full trees for you to cut yourself, they may sell logs also.

Here are a some places up North if you don't mind the drive?

and a load from buy and sell, some are selling bags for €3 so you might save a bit even if you don't buy in bulk..

I saw our local tree surgeon's van today and on the side there was an ad for wood logs for the fire.

OMG!!!!

I'm a cabinet maker and have produced as much as TWENTY BLACK BAGS of wood offcuts in the last months!!!! (usually pine but some hardwoods and MDF etc too)

I must start selling them, I was already considering giving them to my 12 year old nephew so he can become an entrepreneur... I never realised they were so expensive! As it is I use them in my own open fire and give them to my landlord as he often does things for me.

Gebbel, if you're around Wicklow get in touch... also check out the Buy and Sell where I saw an ad for free wood, packaging or something. Maybe also start smashing up old pallets which again are considered rubbish by many people. Paying €6 a small bag is madness!

Cheers
Joe
