Hi

House alarm has been giving some trouble in last 2 weeks, went off 3 times in the middle of the night on one of the coldest nights recently, but ok in last week. Think its a faulty contact in diningroom window.

Crowd who installed alarm 18 months ago want 105 euro for call out.

Can they only fix it because they have the lock codes, or can u look/ demand lock codes off them and get someone else in.

Don't particularly like them and would like to give business elsewhere

Interesting question when we moved in here alarm was 'out of action' but I never bothered with it. Is there away of re-setting it to the factory default, 1234 or something so maybe I can start using it.

Most modern alarm panels are "return to base" to have them cleared and returned to default mode.

If its a faulty contact why don't you find out if electrical wholesalers stock replacement contacts for that manufacturer. Should just be a straight swap over keeping the contact the right way up. (check the arrow on the back) Your alarm will go off when you go to open contact terminal box. Just type in your code and it should stop.

Did you find out manufacturer yet. (not the crowd who's name is on the bell box)

The alarm make is a secure watch HKC
Its stopped going off in the middle of the night (at least for the last 10 days!)

There are 4 different contacts on the diningroom window (to large windows & 2 small windows), panel just says its diningroom window, not which one.

Will another company not touch it- just think 130 euro for a callout and replace one contact is too much- its 1/4 of the total cost of alarm system installation!

Any installation company can reset the alarm for you. More like €80 you should be paying for this. This should include the faulty sensor. Shop around...
