Litter Fine sent to me from rented apartment

Just got a 150 euro litter fine from Dublin City Council, they traced me from a bill left in a rubbish bag on a street. This street is where my mothers apartment is which was finally rented out three months ago. So the tenants are obviously responsible for leaving out the rubbish bag.

Was just going to forward on the fine to them, but its in my name and wondering where do I stand legally on this?

My niece recently received a litter fine but she has put in an appeal. I'd suggest you do the same - but you have to "outline" why you don't feel you are responsible for said fine. Also it gives you a chance to get the money together as it takes weeks and weeks for them to get through all the appeals. You can download the appeal form from the DCC site.
