I have just become aware of this issue, I bought shares (so i thought) on the US exchange of Brookfield Asset Management L.P., I never passed any remarks on the L.P at the end of the name as I purchased them the same as any other share. However now I discover that I purchased Limited Partnership units and not shares. I am concerned now as to the taxation implications.
There was tax deducted at source and dividends received. I simply declared the dividends on my tax return and also the tax withheld, the same as all other shares I own.
Does anyone know if that is correct and that is all I need to do.
