Lighting circuit load

Hi, anyone know how you work out what the max load is at each point of your domestic lighting circuit? Ta.
 
Hi, could you elaborate? Is it each circuit or each switched point?

If it's each domestic circuit, then the maximum permisseable load is 10amps, as per breaker rating on board.

If it's each switched point then the actual load would be the addition of all the wattages of bulbs divided by operating voltage (230v).
(*Note. Fluorescents and other inductive circuits have a higher switching load)

Thanks SineWave, I'm talking about switched points. I want to put in three 50W recessed lights in a room. Just want to be sure I'm not overloading the circuit.
 
Hi. Your MCB (10amp) at board is there to protect your circuit (cable) and will trip if you push above 10amp.

If you want to stress test before fitting, then fit a 150w bulb and turn on all other lights in house.
 
10 A breaker. watts =volts x amps =240 x 10 = 2400 watts.
That is a maximum of 2400 watts of lighting on a 10 amp radial lighting circuit.
