hi

i bought lidl satelite recently but cant get this thing working

i am trying to connect to ASTRA 28.1, Signal strengh and quality is more than 70% and i can get some germans etc channels, but i want to get bbc1 bbc2 etc, it can search these channels but when i put these channels it always says NO Signals :( ,, i did use SAT finder but cant get better than this,

Try the boards.ie Satellite TV forum perhaps? They get lots of queries like this and have some very good regular posters who can help.

Thats because you are on the wrong satellite, I presume as you are getting German its 19.2e (astra 1) and not 28.2e (astra 2) which you need for sky...

Signal quality - this is the bit that tells you if the thing is wired up correctly, should be around 90-100%

Signal Strength - this is the bit that tells you how strong the signal from the satellite is, if its 0% it means its pointing at open sky. 50% is what mine usually shows and its fine for BBC etc.

As has already been said you might be pointing at the wrong bird.

There used be a time when satellites cost millions of dollars and you had to be a major government to own one!

I'd agree with the best guess here that you're probably pointing your dish at Astra 19.2. It has a lot of German channels.

In the 'service search', use a frequency of 10773H and a symbol rate of 22000 as your reference (that's BBC). Move the dish to the left until you get no signal, then keep moving it to the left until you get a signal again. If that doesn't get BBC, then move it to the next satellite. There's possibly 5 stops between Astra 19.2 and 28.5, but not all of them (or any) would have a signal on that frequency.

Once you get BBC, the others should be plain sailing.

I agree with Technologist

Point it further East and also down towards the ground a bit
