Hi

In sitting room that has an open fireplace that has a working back boiler connected to it there is a level in the fireplace (near the top of fireplace heading up the chimney), that you can pull towards you or push away from you

I believe purpose of this level is that in one position it is designed to allow the heat from the fire warm the room and with the level in the other position it is designed to heat the water for the back boiler to circulate to the rads

But does anyone know which way to have the level to work each option - is it pull level near you to allow the heat to circulate in room from fire or does having the level pulled near you - heat the water for the back boiler

Thanks

Pull it back towards you to increase the air for back boiler and push it inwards to regulate the heat towards room .
Having it in the middle is probably best option .

If you move it to centre and lift upwards , you should be able to remove it completely.
