My girlfriend is in the middle of her FE 1 Exams (half way through) , she is in a well paid job but is hoping to become a solicitor and knows that she must eventually take a large pay cut down the road if she wants to take up an apprenticeship. She works in a legal area as an executive (litigation & employment law)and has been told that there will be two solicitors starting in house (currently one) to take legal work in house. Is it possible that she could stay in her current job role , finish the FE1's and then complete her apprenticeship in her current position under the wing of one of the in-house solicitors ? Is an apprenticeship all about dealing with many areas of law within a two year period or are you shoved into one department for the duration of the apprenticeship. Her company will fund the Professional course and provide time off but would this be a valid apprenticeship , she has about 8 years legal experience already ?
