Hi all

I intend on leaving work on 1st November and going travelling for a year.
I will not work or claim benefits in Ireland for the rest of this year.

Basically, I want to claim all my tax credits for the year immediately as to get an immediate tax refund.

Will I be able to claim back tax immediately, or will i have to wait until next year before I can apply? And how to I go about asking for the refund?

I think you will require to get a P 50 form completed and send to your local Tax office. They will then make a refund payable to you.

Bear in mind that if you leave work in early November, then you will still have worked 10/12 of the year. Your potential for a tax rebate would be limited to the unused (November & December) tax credits and if you had paid any tax at 41% up to leaving, any possible spare standard rate cut-off point for the year as a whole.
