Leaving college mid year- social welfare entitlement & VEC grant to repeat year

Friend's son thinking of leaving college (as had not attended lectures etc in many subjects due to major illness over past year)...


  • What is his entitlement to social welfare? What documentation will he need for college?
  • Can he obtain VEC maintenance grant/ fees paid next year, if he repeats year? (illness is major and he can obtain all medical certs etc from hospital)
