Want to buy a new leather suite for family room. Would positioning the couch against a radiator damage the leather when heat is on or would we have to keep radiator turned off. Dont want to buy leather if we have to sit in a cold room.

Hi

Once the couch is real leather and not a synthetic leather then there is no reason why you can't position the couch beside the radiator cover.

I have a leather sofa positioned in front of a radiator, with a gap of about 5cm. It has been there for at least eight years. I can't see any damage.

If there was slight damage, but it was limited to the back of the sofa, I wouldn't worry about it.

We have our real leather sofa from last 15 year in front of the radiator with a gap of couple of cm. And our radiator stays on the whole day and night in the winter on about 22 centigrade, night 15 centigrade. There is no damage on the sofa...even't a slight.

That's right: outscore me!

I too have a leather couch up against a radiator for the last 10 years...I've never checked to see if there was any damage..must check now....when the heating is on, I sometimes move the couch out from the radiator about 6 inches, just to let more of the heat out...but then my couch is just a standard 3 seater, might not be possible if the couch is a bigger one.
