Totally new to this but don't think it will be too hard as long as we are careful. I'm guessing that the patient and accurate use of a spirit level is one of the most important things.
It will be fairly small (3 x 3M) and we already have some 600 x 600mm slabs.
A few questions -
How deep a layer of sand is needed (minimum) to bed the slabs?
As I understand it there are two approaches to finishing: grouting or using that fine sand stuff. I'm thinking grouting since we aren't pros - good idea?
If grouting what is the sand/cement ratio?
Since we may be using a mixture of slab sizes are they all likely to be the same depth? What about sizes themselves - is e.g. 300 x 300 reasonably common?
Any advice appreciated.
