Hi, my insurance is due for renewal & has without surprise has increased in cost.
There is a big difference in quotes between policies with just public hospital cover & policies with private hospital cover. What are the disadvantages of selecting a policy with just public hospital cover. I live in SE of country. Nearest private is Whitfield.
 
If my GP needs to refer me for a scan/see a consultant, can I been seen in the public hospital as a private patient? This is what I’m unsure of with regards Health insurance

It will depend on the Consultants contract. All new Consultants are public only in the public hospital., so if you want to see them privately it will only in their rooms and a private hospital.
 
Thank you beautfan for your reply. You have answered my question & have helped me in my making my decision regarding plans at renewal
I find the HIA website very confusing.
