Landlord has not provided us with a copy of the signed lease?

I and my friends moved in to an apartment 6 weeks ago and although we four all signed the lease, the landlord has not given us a copy with his signature on it.

I've tried emailing and calling him several times without success.

Can anyone advise if this means he now effectively has a one sided lease which he can enforce when the circumstances suits him and ignore when they don't and what can I do to force him to provide a fully signed copy of the lease?

Don't take this advice. You can only get results when you do things by the book.

Did you not sign two copies of the lease and keep one - that would be fairly standard procedure?

No unfortunately, there was combination of a mix up and a printer problem which meant we only had one copy.

Ehmm... This goes both ways.

"You only get results when you go by the book" is a very strange statement. There are numerous ways to get results.

The issue in this instance is that there is no response from the landlord and the normal by-the-book route (email/phone) is not working.
 
Agree with Bob -- you are living in a property, have paid rent and you do not know the lease terms. There is enough threads on AAM in relation to dodgy landlords. E-mail the landlord and write to him advising the circumstances. Bet he answers you then.

What I meant was you can only take the moral high ground and highlight the landlord's misdeeds by showing you have lived up to your side of the lease.
