Laminated Double Glazing & Appearance & Noise Reduction

I am thinking of changing from standard double glazing (4mm front and 4mm back with 20 mm airspace) to laminated double glazing (6mm laminated front and 4mm back and 18 mm airspace) because of a road noise problem. I have been told that laminated double glazing looks different to conventional double glazing and has a slight tint, and all the panes will have to be replaced. Is this true?

This is important, because if this is so, I will have to change all the windows at the front of my home as opposed to the one in the bedroom

If there is a difference in appearance, would unlaminated glass panes of different thickness front and back be almost be as good against noise as laminated?

Any help would be appreciated
