Hi all, ..currently in middle of new build in the country. Looking at purchasing a beautiful range cooker by Lacanche. The problem is we have an oil heating system so we would have to use bottled gas if we got this cooker, as it is mainly gas hob function (the electric version way too pricey).... 2 questions
1. - are Lacanche's worth the heavy spend and
2. - should we just forget about it if we have no access to natural gas ???

Ta v much

We were on an Oil based system in my last house and I had a Leisure rangemaster that had electric ovens and gas hob. It didn't use that much, probably one bottle of LPG a year. We had 2 bottles hooked up outside so it was easy enough to switch over and replace. Hope that helps?

Lacanche are lovely but yes pricey.....my hearts desire for my new build is a Wolf range cooker, prob even more pricey! but am ever hopeful.....:)

Thanks Bats - that certainly helps because someone else told me the same thing re the LPG's time frame. ...only thing is now you've got me onto the Wolf thing!! All the best with your new build - keep the hope!

Hi Bats,

Just wondering if you could tell me what was involved in setting up the cylinders. I am in the same boat as yourself, will have to setup gas in a few weeks for a range and don't know where to start.
