Kitchen installation costs

got a quote of 6430.31 for a new kitchen from b&q. Was quite pleased with this as it included appliances. However, the quote they gave me for installation was 6322.00.

Does this seem like a lot? I nearly choked!
 
I would expect to Fit a kitchen, Should take approx 2 to 3 days at €350 a day.

but it depends on what is required, to be fitted.

Hi,

That seems extremely high, even assuming it includes ripping out the old kitchen and all electrical/plumbing work. As a rough guide the installation cost should be approx 10% of the cost of the kitchen, even if you took it as slightly higher say €800-€1000, plumbing approx €400-€500 depending obviously if you're getting sinks moved around the place/American fridge freezers plumbed in etc, electrics about €350. Cash and Carry kitchens/Panelling centre both sell kitchens, can help you design it (for a €50 fee in the case of the Panelling centre refundable off the price of the kitchen should you buy from them and give a list of fitters. I know they have a decent reputation from the posts around here, there are a few with horror stories from B and Q, do a search for the thread,

2 to 3 days ??? i worked in a furniture factory in the midlands and it was very rare for us not to fit a kitchen a day.
 
I would have thought 1 day to fit a B&Q kitchen. Unless it's a bespoke custom made and hand crafted - I wouldn't think it should take longer than 1day. I thought your figure was a typeo - Six Thousand euro to fit!? Cash and Carry charge ~€750 for €5000 kitchen.

This would make Gnasher's quote even more of a rip off. Maybe this is just a typo??

it has to be a typo, 12k in total for a kitchen it would want to do the cookinfg and washing up itself for that money !!!!!
 
Normally a team of fitters will be able to do a kitchen in 1 day. but if you need to get more people to fit appliances etc. I was allowing for this in my price.

Its not a typo. He phoned me with the quote and it was afterwards I thought I must have misheard him. Then the quote plus breakdown came through the post.

Total for cabinets, appliances etc - 6430.51
Installation total 6322.00
Overall total 12,752.51

( this includes 15% discount off the kitchens - there happened to be a promotion on the w'end he called out)

Appliancewise we were getting a fridge freezer(not a big fancy one as kitchen too small!), gas cooker, hob and hood, washer dryer and slimline dishwasher
 
to be honest thats silly money, are the appliences gold plated ???

how can instalation costs like that be justified, i think you should make a few trips to some more vendors.

Unreal cost for a kitchen installation. Did they give you a hard copy of the plans? If so I'd bring it to the panelling centre and they can give you a rough quote in a few minutes. We took our kitchen design (even if you don't have the B & Q one you can sketch it onto graph paper in no time) into Panelling centre and got a quote of approx €7k for a biggish kitchen (not incl installation) and they would throw in €800 worth of appliances. Cash and Carry work in a similar way.

Charging that for fitting is a bit unreasonable. it if include plumbing and electrical work then costs can add up but certainly not to that extent I would imagine.


I used the following:

D1 Kitchens

My kitchens cost €8000 for
- Solid maple doors (18 - including integrated unit doors)
- Solid walnut counter top
- Floor to ceiling Pull out larder

Appliances
- Integrated Washer/Drier
- AEG Intergrated Fridge Freezer
- AEG Integrated single oven
- AEG Integrated ceramic HOB
- Extractor/Hood
- Sink and tap

Extra feature

Totals costs included design, delivery and installation (including Plumbing).

Note electrical work was extra - they gave me numbers for electrrians who quoted €500 but I was able to get this done for free.

They have a tie in with a kitchen applinace outfit so you can order the appliances through D1.

Really impressed me - we went in on a Tuesday and the Kitchen was fitted the Thursday of the following week. There was a part missing for connecting the washer/drier which they took up with the supplier who delivered and fitted the missing part on the Thursday evening.
 
B&Q charge €250 for each appliance to be fitted. ie €250 for cooker hood, €250 for gas hob, €250 for oven, €250 for dishwasher, €250 for fridge etc each item is charged indiviually, then there is a fitting charge for the sink, a gas certification and an electrical certification, then after all this there is the charge for fitting the units themselves. I had B&Q fit my kitchen only, woul not advise it, units fell off the wall an they did not want to take responsibility for it. Just got it sorted out now, But would not recommend them for fitting it all.
 
Go buy your kitchen for b&q & get someone else to install. B&Q cabinets are easiy assembled... after you do the first couple you can do the rest blind folded.

I wanted to know if anyone had installed an insinkarator in their kitchen and if it was any good. Its a sink that shread all the waste of your vegetable peels that usually go in the bin.

Are you really sure of that price, You must have taken them up wrong, It normally takes 1.5 days for 2 guys to finish, cost no more than 750 e A DAY, if you go to a guy who does it and ask you will see
