Kitchen Extractor Fan

Hi all,

I need to get an extractor fan installed in a rental property I have. Problem is the walls are around 2 foot thick and I don't want the hassle of going through them, the only other option I can think of is getting it fitted into the window. Recently got new windows in but if it is the best option then I will go with that.

Any advice?

If it is a single storey property you could run the ducting hose up into the roof space and exit via the soffit (beneath the eaves).

I have been told by the council that I need to "provide mechanical extraction to kitchen" which I had before via the window. Not sure if a charcoal coal would fall under this or not, in my case it is a standalone electric cooker with no press units above it so not sure how suitable these extractor fans would be.
 
The one's you put in windows are shockingly dirty things after a short time but you might have no choice if you don't want to bore through 2ft of concrete. The choice is yours.
 
The charcoal options won't meet rental property standards, you really are best biting the bullet and putting the vent through the wall. If the windows are double glazed, you would have to get a replacement unit made with the hole cut through and sealed. Likely to work out more expensive and look really ugly.

There are specialists with commercial dry diamond coring rigs that will get through it pretty quickly,most of the hire companies will supply them too.
 
Thanks for the replies, yeah from the comments I think I am probably going to have to bite the bullet and go for it. In the long run it looks like it is more cost effective and cleaner option.
