Kilkenny VEC grant scheme

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend is a mature student in WIT and waiting on his grant from KK VEC. He's in his second year so already on the system and he sent in all the necessary documents as soon as he received the letter from KK VEC at the start of the summer. He got up this morning to check his bank account and no sign of his grant. He's now extremely worried that he will have to wait until January (like last year) for his grant, something he really can't afford to do.

During the week a notice was put up on the noticeboard in the college re: KK VEC grants saying that grants would be paid in on 16 October.

Just wondering if anyone else is waiting on KK VEC or if anyone has received their grant from KK VEC?

Although there are no responses, I will post this just in case there is anyone in the same boat.

My bf went into college today and spoke to someone in the office who told him that he never handed in a letter that he was supposed to have handed in. He brought that same letter with him when he registered back in June (with his results etc) and was told no, you don't need that at all. So now he's stuck waiting. He was told it would be November at least before he has his grant but he's not holding his breath. Yet, more incompetency!

Last year he had to wait until nearly the end of January to get his first installment of his grant, probably the same this year. Why would anyone want to bother going back to college when this is what you're up against??
