I suppose it was more laypersons' guides to laws I was looking for.

The other links are useful but would be offputting for most people

Department for Enterprise, Trade and Employment (here) is useful for information on employment law, IP, Company law, work permits etc.

The CRO is good for company law information - their free publications are pretty good.

Director of Corporate Enforcement (here) for more company law

The Patents Office (here) is good for IP law/protection and discusses patents, trademarks, copyright etc.

Consumer law from the NCA (here)

Also, the major law firms have regular publications that you can normally get via email and you can subscribe to different publications based on your area of interest. They are usually written with the minimum of legal jargon.

www.legalprecedents.ie - excellent site which gives precedent letters and legal documents needed for various areas of law from buying or selling property to debt collection and enforcement of court orders. Also has some property notes.

McGarr Solicitors legal blog is by far the best in Ireland. And a good all around website: http://www.mcgarrsolicitors.ie/

    Writing your own Will

    Hi all -
I've head that a will that you write yourself is legally binding so long as you adhere to a standard format and post the will with a solicitor.

In other words, you probably need to retain the solicitor to hold the will for you, but if you adhere to an acceptable format then you can write the thing yourself.

Is there any truth to this?

    Thanks in advance...

Another resource that is very good is the British and Irish Legal Information Institute.
