Hi I'm a former UK resident moving to Ireland and just wanted a straw poll on anyone who knows on what the main differences between the UK and Irish markets are, any info welcomed!

UK in £'s and Ireland in €'s............LOL.......Interest rates BOE V European bank

Not as much choice or competition in Ireland.

Interest Tax relief for first time buyers, individuals and married couples are a massive give away in Ireland, nothing like this in the UK.

Other than that can't think of much that springs to mind....I assume you are aware of the massive stamp duty diffrences and the fact that there is no council tax in Ireland. (Yet)

The Irish Consumer Credit Act is very consumer friendly.

A lender cannot charge a penalty for early repayment of a variable rate mortgage. I understand that some British lenders give discounts up front but charge you penalties if you redeem them within 5 years.

Repossession is extremely rare in Ireland. It is much more common in Britain.
