Just Tax!

Hi, I am 23 years old working for the last 12months in a company and i have a question! Why has my tax gone up so much in the last few months and is there any way that I can get some of it back? At the moment, no matter how many hours I work I still come out with the same net wages at the end. I'm struggling with bills so claiming some of this back would be great...

I presume your tax has gone up due to the new Income Levy introduced in January and doubled in May.

Alternatives may be that you are now paying tax at the high rate (41%)whereas previously you were paying tax at the low (20%) rate.

At the moment, no matter how many hours I work I still come out with the same net wages at the end.

This doesn't make sense unless you agreed a salary with your employer as opposed to an hourly rate.

Does the Gross wage on your payslip stay the same irrespective of what hours you work.

You can't just claim tax back because you are stuck for cash. If you are due tax back then you can get it back.

Are you sure you have all your tax credits - the single credit & PAYE credit are the 2 which you should have
