Thanks! i've just gone to that section and yes it is set to 800x600 instead of 1024x768.
There is a slider there to adjust it up to 1024x768 but the slider does not appear to be working. When I click on it and try to drag it there is no movement.
Is there any way I can type in the 1024x768 from elsewhere?
How would I go about getting the latest drivers and Windows update?Or else only default display drivers were installed and you need the latest drivers for your specific video card in order to get higher resolution and refresh rate (if using a CRT rather than a flat panel monitor) and use other special features. Have you done a Windows Update since reinstalling as it may find more up to date device drivers?
You don't want to do a Windows Update over dial-up! Even on broadband it can take ages! I'm pretty sure that the above is not the verbatim error message. If you post the actual error text it might help.I just tried installing my dial-up connection on this new HD so I could connect to the internet to download updates, but I cannot install the dial-up as it states the display is not set to the correct level.
Doesn't make any sense to me. You need to post specific details. So I can't adjust the display up, until I connect to the net to download updates, but I cannot connect to the net until the display is set correctly which allows me to install my dial-up connection.![]()
Doubt it.I wonder if there would be any point re-installing Windows XP and maybe this time it will install at the correct setting of 1024x768 ?
