The amount of junk emails on my Laptop has gone up from about 50 a day to over 600.I am using Windows Mail on laptop but had been using Outlook on a home PC for a few days and when I reconnected to the Internet on laptop I got this huge increase in the amount of junk. What could have gone wrong and any suggestions on how I can resolve this problem .Thanks in advance.

gmail is pretty good. I get about 10000 spams every 30 days, the vast majority of which end up in my spam folder.

In Outlook, select Tools and the Rules & Alerts.....I take it that there's a common theme to your junk, (medications, banks, fake lottery, dear beneficiary letters etc), select common words from the spam that you're receiving - viagra, bank, lottery etc and send these items to the junk email folder. You can then decide whether Outlook deletes them automatically or whether you want to check them first.

I automatically wipe them so that the sender gets no acknowledgement of me having ever received it...which over time also reduces the amount you get.

As an aside just opened my 11 yr olds email to find 86 emails - 80 of them were spam going back over the last 10 days, mostly from African countries looking for her a/c details to give her 8.5 million US dollars......can't wait.....maybe I can put my feet up for a while....assuming she doesn't move out with her new found wealth!! Lol

Suggest using common email like Gmail or Hotmail etc. In comparison, Outlook, windows mail etc wouldnt give them the time of day (except in work where most companies use outlook)

Use Gmail or use a AntiSpam product with Outlook.

You need to disable the auto-preview as some messages include linked graphics that will reveal to the spammer if you've viewed the message.

The best and most reliable way to stop getting spam is to change your e-mail address. After that, use one address for trusted friends and another for the rest.
