Hello everyone,
Im on jsb at present but have recently been diagnosed with medical condition which makes me unable/unfit for work. Question is do I stay on jsb or do I need to move to something like illness benefit. If so how do I go about it?
Thanks

Hi Beverly

Don't forget the that "Job Seekers Benefit " is exactly that. A benefit for people not working but seeking jobs. If you are not able to work due to illness you will probably need to get a doctors cert/letter and apply for disability benefit. Depending on the lenght your on this benefit, you may be entitled to even more benefits. Dont' take my word for it, email the social welfare website. They are pretty good at replying.

Yes, you need to move onto illness benefit, you cannot stay on JSB if you're unfit for work. Your doctor should give you a cert which you then send into the Social Welfare office. They will transfer you over, and you then send in the certs every week.
