Joint House Ownership (Not a couple)

Hi

I am in a situation where I jointly own a house with my brother.
I live in the house and rent out other rooms to tennants.
My brother lives elswhere in his own house.

We did not have any formal verbal or written agreement
(apart from normal Mortgage documentation)
regarding the division of costs that would normally be incurred by
a Landlord.

Cost Examples:

1 Mortgage re-paymenst V the Tennants rent
2 House Insurance
3 Gas Boiler Maintenance
4 Garden Maintanence
5 Bin Collection

Is there a standard agreement for this type of situation?
Where would be the best place in Ireland to seek advice on this?

When you say - I am in a situation where I jointly own a house with my brother- could you elaborate as in how, precisely, did you end up in this situation? Can we assume that you bought the house together? Why did you do that?


What did you both think was to happen when you bought the house together? Did you never discuss these issues?

Can you post your household figures? e.g. Total monthly mortgage repayment, in what proportion by each of you how that is paid, tenant rent, etc.,etc.
