As a married couple when you are means tested by SW for JA does it make a difference if you have all your money in one account or must it be in a joint account.
Basically I have just under 40K in my bank a/c but it is both our money as hubbie is brutal at saving so he used to give it to me to save for him, so the a/c is in my name only.
He now receives nothing from SW as his JB ran out and I was working, however since Jan this year I was put on a 3 day week and if I am made redundant in the near future ( quite possible) we will both have used up our stamps and therefore would be means tested. Is it correct that the first 20K is not assessed and is it doubled for a married couple ie 40k but should it be in a joint a/c.
