Jobseekers - Class 3 and UK pension

So if you buy back years from 2006 to 2024 for example and some of those years you were out of work and not receiving jobseekers in Ireland, does that mean you pay class 3 for that year. I have just watched a video from XtraPension and that seems to be their thinking. Would that be correct, so you have a mix of class 2 and class 3 depending on whether you were working or not. If you did receive social welfare does that mean you still have to pay class 3 for that year? I assume these case workers would be looking for proof or employment in Ireland and social welfare.

Yes, a mixture. I have class 3 when I was not working and thrn in college, class 2 from when I started work.
