Hi all,

I claimed for JA at the beginning of June, after a couple of call backs for more info on mine & husbands incomes, I heard nothing from them. I tried to call, but they never answer the phone. Yesterday (5 months later) I received something called a 'PRETA Means test assessment' that says my husband was earning (self-employed) €540 a week - this is no longer the case & my husband has not been paid by several clients so he's getting into financial problems.

The assessment still doesn't tell me if I am eligible for any money!!

It feels horrible & depressing having to ask my husband for money, especially since I have always had my own income. Have just had a baby, so its gonna be a while before I can get back to work.

Does anyone know a Welfare telephone number that ever gets answered?

To claim Job Seeker's Allowance/Benefit, you have to be available for and genuinely seeking work. Is that the case with you with the new baby?

Sounds like you're not available for work and therefore shouldn't be claiming to be so.

SW are inundated with claims at present. Many ofices ar not answering phones as they have no time and it slows down decision work. Call in.

Are you still on Maternity Benefit or if not is it possible that your husband may be entitled to JA
