im very new to this so apologies if this sounds stupid.

apparently first 13 euros of jsb is exempt on tax return. i was paid 34 weeks of it last year, so is it 188-13 X 34 ?

I believe you are correct. If you request a statement online from DSP for 2011, it should state the amount of taxable JSB paid to you in 2011.

thanks. i was given a back payment for 2011 in summer 2012 as i actually qualified for jsb in 2011 and should not have been on job seekers allowance. i was given 34 weeks back payment so i will calculate it that way.

any JSA received is non-taxable.

As you received 34 weeks JSB this summer, I think this should go on your 2012 tax return as you actually received it in 2012, even though all or some relates to 2011.
