job searching with no experience

at the moment i am looking for part time work. i have a family so full time isnt an option right now. i have gathered alot of experience at different things in the past but the problem is where i live the only job available is hotel work- experience needed. the thing is i have none. i really would like to work and would be good at any task put to me, i am a good house keeper . should i apply anyhow or would a white lie about my experience on my c.v work. how can anyone get experience if their not given a chance
 
Don't lie on your CV. Do a skills based CV stressing the skills that you have acquired while working in the home (e.g. budgeting, organisation, scheduling etc.) many of which are applicable in many work environments. Sell yourself and your skills but do not lie about past experience. That's my opinion anyway...
 
thanks clubman i never thought of doing that, didn't think it would be acceptable, it sounds great the way you layed it out for me, hope it sounds as good on my CV
 
Have a look around for CV preparation tips especially those orientated towards the Irish market. I think it's not unusual to do a skills based CV when changing career or when returning to the workforce without any immediately preceding relevant workplace experience. Anybody who has run a household and/or raised kids has learned lots that could easily be applied to many work environments so don't sell yourself short there. Try to get somebody to review your CV and give straight/objective feedback.

you can sometimes offer a couple of weeks unpaid work, as a sort of free trial to demonstrate your ability.
 


thanks clubMan i took your advice and covered on my new cv. my house hold experience and how i am so use to working under pressure and believe it or not im now being trained in for silver service in a new Hotel.
