Good afternoon

I inherited money from my mother around 70k.
I Have never received inheritance before but my Solicitor said this needs to be filed which I hired an accountant and he did it for me and Automatically I got a notice of acknowledgment saying I did not owe anything but now, I have to wait 4 weeks before it clears why is this ? I Have not being resident of Ireland for 30 years and do not owe any taxes

Is the 70k a foreign currency cheque? They can take around 4 weeks to clear. It's nothing to do with taxes, just the standard time it takes to get a foreign cheque cleared.

No the solicitor said he needs the tax department to clear if I owe tax or not ! It’s called CAT return but when speaking to the revenue they said I don’t need to wait. ! So I have no idea !

What 'Tax Department' is he talking about? Is the solicitor in a very large company or a one man show?
