I invested €1000 in 4 ISEQ company shares in January. Through the year I have invested in 2 more shares. Now in November, I have sold all shares except the worst one that is now at break even. My share portfolio shows a profit of €223.
I am thinking to continue on the dole and to invest €10k initially with a €10k back-up fund.
Do I have an apptitude for this ?

Hi Crandle

I don't see the connection between staying on the dole and investing?

Buying and selling 6 shares is hardly a full-time occupation.

If you invest €20k and get a super return of 10% a year, that would be only €2k per year.

You will earn more than €2k per month by working.

But the main point is that what has happened over the last year in 6 stocks tells us nothing about your investment skills.

Time and again, it is shown that 99.999% of investors don't beat the market in the long-term.

You will have periods of short-term outperformance followed by average performance over the longer term.

Probably something to do with this?

Well it would be interesting to see exactly what you did....

That said, probably not. But then most people don't have the ability and the mentality to be a good stock picker over say a 30 year period. And your return to date, even though it is only for one year, does not even meet average expectations for stock pickers....
