Is there I.T. Work out there?

Hello all,
First of all I hope I am posting in the right section
I am currently working full time but in a few months I am being made redundanct. I think by Jan/Feb I will be unemployed. I have worked in this industry for about 10 years so I have good experience and qualifications. However my home life has now changed as I had a baby this yr. Therefore I am hoping to get a job even 3-4 days a week instead of 5. I find I dont get to see my baby when I work 5 days and well he needs me more.. but I have to work too. I am just wondering what is the general IT work area like out there? Is there anyone looking now? OR have you recently gotten a new role etc? I am very positive generally and I am hoping that when I do move jobs it will be the very good move for me overall...

Its hard to tell, it feels like a collective holding of breath!

I'd start talking to your existing contacts now before you leave.

Networking is where its at and you will get a better response than sending CVs to people you don't know.

Tell everyone you know your plans, you'd be surprised how effective this can be, it worked for me albeit a couple of years ago.

Great ideas there, thanks for much. I am also going to try re-train myself while I am winding down till they give me the boot... not much else I can do.. few things I am doing is trying to change mortgages too to save money each month

What are your IT skills and experience in Bondgirl ?

Hi Louis. I will in the banking sector in IT Dept.. I have been working in Infrastructure from basics yrs ago like PC builds to Server work, I then moved up and moved into IT training and then I ran the helpdesk of about 6 staff...... So I have both IT skills and management skills too to team leader standard (hiring staff, aprasils etc)

Don't limit yourself to IT work. Your supervisory & management skills would be relevant for call centres and other customer services environments too.

Complainer only getting to read your reply now. I was out sick... better now thx god. Yes i was thinking that too. would actually love to get away from IT WORK, totally bored to death with it........
