IS there a problem with a plug or the washing machine

Hi there,
I am hoping a DIY enthusiast, or some one good on electrics to assist me in diagnosing a problem with my washing machine.

Last night, I put on a wash. I checked the wash later and noticed that the washing machine had "died" there was no power.
I checked the socket the machine was plugged into by plugging in a lamp - no power.

So I then thought "Ahh the fuse has blown, Mr Bear should be able to sort that!". So to kick start my wash (my machine is in the garage). I got an extension lead and using the extension lead I plugged the machine into a socket in the kitchen. I didn't plug the extension lead directly into the socket I plugged it into a double adapter. The machine worked for a few minutes, and now my double adapter is dead! However there is still power in the socket as my kettle is working!

Any electrical minded people have any advise, is the problem related to the washing machine plug, or would it be my mchine - which is about 6 years old..

Your washing machine is blowing fuses

1 the one in the panel for the original socket
2 the fuse in the double adapter

which indicates an electrical problem of some kind in the machine so you need an electrician for starters. You will need to leave the machine unplugged.

The problem isn't that its blowing fuses; the problem to be resolved is WHY this is happening. -

damp in the plug
damp in the electrics of the machine itself
frayed / rodent-damaged wiring, etc

Cheers mathepac. I'll organize an electrician. The machine when not in use is unplugged anyway..

dead sockets, dead adapters, its more like a job for an undertaker i think..................
